Card games to play on Discord

Rafiki is a free card game you can play with your friends right inside a Discord voice call. Everyone in the call sits at the same table, there's nothing to download and nobody needs to sign up.

How to play Rafiki on Discord

1. Add Rafiki to your server (you need permission to manage the server).
2. Join a voice channel with your friends.
3. Tap the Activities button (the rocket) and choose Rafiki.
4. Press Play together. Everyone who opens Rafiki in the same call joins the same table. Or press Play the computer to practise.

It works in the Discord app on computer, iPhone and Android. Rafiki on Discord is new, so for now it opens in smaller servers (under 25 members).

Why Rafiki works so well in a call

• Short rounds. A game takes about five minutes, so it fits between other games or while you wait for friends.
• Talking makes it better. You're bluffing about what you've peeked at, and you can hear the groan when someone slams the card you were about to throw.
• Easy to learn. Four hidden cards, lowest total wins. If you know Cabo, Cambio, Pablo, Gringo or Dutch, you already know most of it.
• 2 to 6 players, and computer players can fill empty seats.
• House rules. Switch to Gringo rules in the lobby if that's how your group plays.

The rules in 30 seconds

Everyone gets four face-down cards and peeks at two. On your turn, draw a card and either swap it into your hand or throw it away. Some cards let you peek at your own cards, spy on someone else's or swap blind. If a card matching one you remember hits the pile, slam it straight on top, even out of turn. When you think your total is lowest, call RAFIKI. Everyone gets one more turn, then the cards are turned over. Full rules here.

You can also play from your browser: open playrafiki.com, create a room and paste the link in your Discord chat. Your friends click it and they're at your table.
