Every card in a deck: the 52 cards, suits and Jokers
A standard deck of playing cards has 52 cards: 4 suits of 13 cards each. Most decks also come with 2 Jokers, which makes 54. Here is every card, what the suits and court cards are, and what each card is worth in the memory card games Cambio and Rafiki.

The four suits
| Suit | Colour | Cards |
|---|---|---|
| ♥ Hearts | Red | 13 |
| ♦ Diamonds | Red | 13 |
| ♠ Spades | Black | 13 |
| ♣ Clubs | Black | 13 |
So there are 26 red cards and 26 black cards.
The 13 cards in each suit
Every suit has the same 13 ranks: Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen and King.
- Number cards: 2 to 10, nine in each suit, so 36 in the deck.
- Aces: one in each suit, so 4. Depending on the game, the Ace counts as low (1) or high.
- Court cards (face cards): Jack, Queen and King, three in each suit, so 12 in the deck.
- Kings: 4 in all, two red (Hearts and Diamonds) and two black (Spades and Clubs).

The Jokers
Most decks include two Jokers, which don't belong to a suit. Many games leave them out. In Cambio and Rafiki they stay in, and they are some of the best cards to hold.
What each card is worth in Cambio and Rafiki
In these memory games you want the lowest total, so the colour of a King matters:
| Card | Points in Rafiki | Power when discarded |
|---|---|---|
| Red King (♥ ♦) | -1 | None |
| Joker | -1 | None |
| Ace | 1 | None |
| 2 to 6 | Face value | None |
| 7 or 8 | Face value | Peek at one of your own cards |
| 9 or 10 | Face value | Look at someone else's card |
| Jack or Queen | 10 | Swap blind with anyone |
| Black King (♠ ♣) | 10 | Swap blind with anyone |
House rules differ: in many Cambio groups the Joker is worth 0. See the Cambio cheat sheet for the common variations, and How to play for the full Rafiki rules.
